MBC Chairman John Webster has extensive experience working with both private and public sectors. He is a qualified economist, a director of public companies and a successful entrepreneur, having founded and developed a number of Isle of Man companies involved with IT and the Finance Sector. John is well-placed to provide practical guidance to those wishing to benefit from the many opportunities on the Island, for both business and quality living.
John Webster is an economist and businessman, he was Isle of Man Government’s Economic Adviser from 1976 until 1988 when he resigned in order to develop his own business interests on the Island. Since then, he has founded and continues to be actively involved with the Manx Business Connection, Intelligence, Webster Spellman, Amber Business, Webtech Software, and various other companies. In addition, he is a non-executive director of companies involved with banking, software, fuel distribution, insurance and data management. John was the Economic Adviser to the Isle of Man Government (1976-88), Lecturer in Economics and Management Studies (1970-1976), a Commissioner on the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission (1998-2007), President of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce (1996-1999), Chairman of the Island Games Association of Mann (1995-2001). Currently he is a Trustee of the Microgaming Health and Community Trust and Chairman of the Manx e-Gaming Association.
A Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, John Webster gained an economics degree from London University and is a post-graduate of the University of Manchester.
